Monsoon Chai Pakoda Festival at The Barbeque Times A Street Food Experience
As the first drops of monsoon hit the ground and the petrichor fills the air, there’s nothing quite like the comfort of freshly fried pakodas and a steaming cup of chai to lift your spirits. This season, The Barbeque Times is bringing the charm of street food indoors with our Monsoon Chai Pakoda Festival, featuring an authentic thela (street food cart) experience right in our restaurant!
Street Food Magic
You step into The Barbeque Times, shaking off your umbrella, and are immediately greeted by the sizzling sounds and aromatic scents of a bustling street food cart. We’ve recreated the magic of roadside pakoda stalls by setting up a traditional thela inside our restaurant. The sight of our skilled chefs frying up crispy pakodas on the spot will transport you to the streets of India, all while you enjoy the comfort and ambiance of our restaurant.
Our specially designed thela comes complete with large kadais (woks) filled with bubbling oil, stacks of fresh vegetables waiting to be transformed into delicious pakodas, and an array of chutneys and masalas. The theatrical experience of watching your pakodas being prepared right before your eyes adds an extra layer of excitement to your dining experience.
A Pakoda Paradise
Our Monsoon Chai Pakoda Festival offers a mouthwatering array of traditional and innovative pakoda varieties that will satisfy every craving. Here’s what you can expect from our thela:
- Bread Pakoda: A street food classic, our bread pakodas are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, stuffed with a spicy potato filling that will warm you up on a rainy day.
- Paneer Pakoda: Succulent cubes of paneer (Indian cottage cheese) coated in a spiced gram flour batter and fried to golden perfection.
- Patod Ke Pakode: A Rajasthani delicacy made from colocasia leaves, these unique pakodas offer a crispy texture and a burst of flavors with every bite.
- Moong Dal Bhajiya: These crispy fritters made from split green gram batter are light, crunchy, and utterly addictive.
- Aloo Lacha Pakoda: Thinly sliced potatoes coated in a spicy batter and fried until crisp, creating a lacy, crunchy texture that’s simply irresistible.
- Peri Peri Aloo Pakoda: Our fusion creation combines the beloved aloo pakoda with the fiery kick of peri peri spices, perfect for those who like it hot!
- Hyderabadi Lukhmi (Petti Samosa): This local specialty from Hyderabad is a flat, square-shaped samosa filled with minced meat or vegetables, offering a delightful change from regular samosas.
- Aloo Bonda: These South Indian-style potato dumplings are crispy on the outside and soft and spicy on the inside, served with coconut chutney.
- Kanda Bhajiya: Crispy onion fritters that are a monsoon staple across India, our version is light, crispy, and impossible to stop eating.
- Gobhi Pakoda: Cauliflower florets dipped in a spiced gram flour batter and fried until golden, offering a perfect balance of vegetable freshness and crispy indulgence.
- Chawal Ke Pakoda: An innovative take using rice batter, these pakodas offer a unique texture and subtle flavor that pairs beautifully with our chutneys.
Chai Time
No pakoda feast is complete without the perfect cup of chai, and we’ve got you covered with our special Adarak Elaichi Wali Chai. This fragrant ginger and cardamom tea is brewed to perfection, offering a warm hug in a cup that complements the crispy pakodas beautifully. Watch as our chai wallah expertly prepares your tea, complete with the theatrical pour from a height that’s characteristic of street-side chai stalls.
For those who prefer something cold, we also offer refreshing nimbu pani (fresh lime water) and a selection of lassis to balance out the spicy treats.
The Ambiance
We’ve gone all out to recreate the monsoon street food experience at The Barbeque Times. The sound of raindrops plays softly in the background, while strings of warm lights create a cozy atmosphere. We’ve even set up a few standing tables near the thela for those who want the authentic street food experience of eating their pakodas fresh off the kadai.
Large windows offer a view of the rainy outdoors, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of the monsoon while staying dry and comfortable. The aroma of frying pakodas and brewing chai fills the air, creating an immersive sensory experience that will make you forget you’re in a restaurant.

Our Monsoon Chai Pakoda Festival is more than just a meal – it’s a celebration of the season, a nostalgic trip down memory lane, and a feast for all your senses. Whether you’re a pakoda purist or an adventurous foodie, our festival has something for everyone.
